Green Area and Small Architecture Maintenance Workshops Have Started
Practice instead of theory alone. Participants of the “INTEURO Profession” project have started vocational workshops in Kielce preparing them for work in green area maintenance, gardening, cleaning and technical tasks. The activities are organised by the project partner – the Nadzieja Rodzinie Association.
Outdoor work, practical tasks and gaining skills that can be used directly on the labour market – this is the format of the latest vocational workshops for foreigners that have started in Kielce. This time, participants are learning in practice how to maintain green areas and small architecture.
The activity is implemented as part of the public task entitled “INTEURO Profession – a programme for the professional and social activation of foreigners”, carried out within the Departmental Programme for the Activation of Foreigners for 2026 “Together We Can Do More”.
The workshops are organised by the project partner – the Nadzieja Rodzinie Association, which runs the Social Integration Centre in Kielce. A group of 10 foreigners is taking part in the activities. Over four months, they will gain practical competences related to gardening, cleaning and technical work. The sessions are conducted in the form of workshop-based activities and practical fieldwork.
During the workshops, participants gain skills including:
• maintaining green areas and carrying out seasonal work,
• planting, watering, pruning and caring for plants,
• using basic gardening and technical tools,
• maintaining small architecture, pedestrian routes and shared spaces,
• organising safe and responsible teamwork.
A major advantage of the activities is their practical character. The Social Integration Centre has equipment used in real fieldwork, including a ride-on lawn mower, petrol brush cutters, a rotary tiller, a wood chipper and gardening tools. This allows participants to learn not only how to perform specific tasks, but also how to organise work properly, take responsibility for an assigned area and use equipment safely.
The skills acquired during the workshops can prepare participants for work as a green area maintenance worker, gardener’s assistant, maintenance worker, cleaning services worker, caretaker or technical worker.
The workshops also develop skills that are important in everyday professional life: regularity, accuracy, teamwork, responsibility for assigned tasks and good work organisation. The aim is not only to learn specific practical activities, but above all to increase participants’ professional independence and readiness to take up employment.
The project is implemented by the Integration Europe – East Association in partnership with the University of the National Education Commission in Krakow – Institute of Law, Economics and Administration, the LEX Generalis Foundation, the Nadzieja Rodzinie Association and MassInternet.
